Gladstone Elementary students recognize Jenny Mendez as their "hero" in a special school project. Watch the original song and music video "Work of Art" performed by Gladstone students

The students each year pick an individual or community leader whose life the students will study. The students interview the individual, make posters and then produce an original video about the selected individual.

This year the Kansas City Public School students selected Mendez who is Director of Cultural Arts at the Mattie Rhodes Center in Kansas City.

Fourth grade students that participate in the music video are taught by Daysi Arres.

The project is supported by vice principal Tearo Condit and principal Dana Carter. The LINC site coordinator is Roosevelt Dickerson.

Last year's project featured Landon H. Rowland, LINC Chairman Emeritus.
