Wheatley LINC program reaches out to the community
Wheatley Elementary LINC staff and students in Kansas City Public Schools worked together to create snowmen to be placed in the school community.
"Kindness is COOL" reads the stickers on the snowmen placed along Benton near Wheatley Elementary. The snowmen were created to build moral in the community while simultaneously bringing awareness of LINC to the community as a support.
"The snowmen were a way to bring some cheer to the community," LINC Site Coordinator Heidi Andre said.
Andre worked with the Kansas City Parks & Recreation Department in preparation of the snowmen project in the community. In addition to the snowmen, Wheatley LINC Caring Communities provides fun literacy activities to students, job boards, a community garden, and more.
Students in the LINC program helped create the 50 snowmen that were placed in the school community.
