Community and schools participate in Lights On Afterschool

Families and teachers came together on Oct. 15, 16 and 17 as Kansas City area schools participated in Lights On Afterschool this week.

As an opportunity to bring students, parents and teachers together to celebrate after school programming, area schools explored topics such as crime prevention, healthy eating, literacy and world culture.

The Kansas City Public Library donated over 2,300 books to Lights On Afterschool events. Aim4Peace, Eating from the Garden, Kansas City Police Department, Kansas City Fire Department, MO Care, Safety Street and the YMCA were some of the organizations who partnered with school for Lights On Afterschool programs.
